Rabi Lamichhane Top Nepali Journalist  remanded in police custody


Police took to custody Rabi Lamichhane and Yuvraj Kandel of News 24 television. They were arrested from News 24’s office.


They were arrested by the team of the District Police Office, Chitwan and Kathmandu Police on Thursday evening. They have been taken into custody for investigation into allegations that they were responsible for a suicidal case, police said.

Police have arrested Lamichhane and Kandel for investigating the death of journalist Shalikram Pudasaini, who committed suicide in Chitwan a few days ago.

On July 7, Shalikram  Pudasaini was found hanging in a room at hotel Kangaroo  in Narayangadh, Bus Park, Chitwan. In a video recorded on mobile by Pudasaini before the suicide, accused Ravi Lamichhane as the cause of him committing suicide.

Meanwhile, journalist Lamichhane has also been accused of assisting in the investigation of the incident after accusing a former colleague of committing suicide.

'I am alive to accuse the accuser of death. Let the only allegation against the deceased be proved, and be punishable by an imprisonment. Shalikram has heard all the allegations, ' Lamichhane tweeted.

He also claimed on Facebook Live that he had not spoken to Pudasaini for a long time. Remember that for some time Pudasaini was directly involved with the public on the News24 program team.

Meanwhile, police have also arrested Asmita Karki alais Ruku, who was linked to the video before arresting Ravi Lamichhane. Karki was arrested earlier this afternoon from Trivial Teaching Hospital, police said.
