SANDALWOOD 

Sandalwood is called as CHANDAN in Nepali and Hindi. Sandalwood plantations are found in Nepal but not in plenty. Sandalwood plantations are found in abundant in South Indian states like Karnatak, Malabar and Tamil Nadu. it grows upto the height of 9-12 meters in height. The leaves of sandalwood plant are oval in shape from 3-6 cm long.
                                                                                                                                                                        


The life of sandalwood tree is nearly about fifty years. its fruit are small and round and when ripe they turn brown in color. The bark of this tree is also black from outside and there is no aroma in the outer bark. the inner bark is full of aroma and also used in making perfumes, ether, scent and oil.
which are used in incense sticks manufacturing also. There are five to six different types of sandalwood. Among them they are popularly known in the color of red, white and yellow.
In the countries like Nepal and India it is also used in the religious aspects at the funeral pyre.





Some home remedy using sandalwood:

  • Itching: A paste made of sandal wood oil and squeeze of lime applied to the itched part of the body would give quick relief.
  • about 20 grams of sandalwood powder mixed with sugar candy. if you drink the juice made out of it. this would do the work of drinking glucose in the hot summer.
  • Hiccups: red sandalwood powder mixed with breast milk. if you smell the paste made out of it, that would help to minimize hiccups.
